I've never been to me 這首歌曲有很多版本，當然聽來聽去，還是 Charlene 唱的比較好聽，這種事情很主觀的……由 Ronald Norman Miller 作詞，Ken Hirsch 作曲，筆者特意的紀錄上詞曲作者，原因是這首曲子很好聽，而歌詞雖無 Vincent 那麼美，但像是敘述故事般的曲子也不多，更何況那段口白呢！其實，I've never been to me 這首歌可以算是一首勸世歌曲，作者想要表白與詮釋的內涵與層面，遠遠超過歌詞本身的詞藻內容……以下部分節錄網路上的說明並略作修改潤飾……：

這首Charlene於1977年的歌曲，在當年其實並不紅，直到1982年時，因某個電台放了這首歌徒然引起廣大的回響……1970年代的美國，經歷一場性愛革命，女性對於性有了全新的追求，不再只是從一而終，她們認為人本身就有對於性的自由，就好像 2020年台灣對於通姦罪除罪化的理由是一樣的……憲法本身就賦予人民擁有性的自由，那時候的女性開始不論有無結婚，對於看上眼的男性就毫無遮掩的展現自己渴求的一面。

但隨之而來的，卻是心靈的空虛，一場有性無愛的關係，漸漸地讓女性發現，其實性對於人生與精神上並無太大的滋潤，伴之而來的，是心靈上的空虛，原來家庭才是一切，但...她們卻因為自我過度放縱，導致晚年都沒小孩，因此奉勸一些不滿現況的家庭主婦們，她們其實是很幸福。
